For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved movies. The experience of sitting in a theatre watching a movie was (and still is) one of the things I enjoy most. It’s easy to take for granted these days, but having easy access to movies was a rarity when I was growing up. So when my family got a VHS and video rental stores opened up, I thought life was pretty damn close to perfect. Of course in those days rentals could be pricey, so renting more than one movie at a time was definitely a luxury. Later as an adult, a video store moved onto my block – JACKPOT!  Who got the most out of her membership? This gal.

With the advent of Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime, I have access to more movies than ever for less money than ever! Back then, I found the Direct-to-Video market surprising – I had no idea that so many movies existed. Now it’s even more extensive! Just like with self-publishing, anyone can make a movie and release it into the wild.  And just like with self-publishing that can be both a good thing and a bad thing. The downside doesn’t bother me all that much because I’m sure I watch movies like most people watch regular tv. I’m pleased with an interesting find, but not so annoyed with a painfully bad one.

I’ve noticed that I’ve been watching so many it’s become hard to keep track. (Especially of the ones that are forgettable.) So I decided to start a blog documenting movies I’ve seen and my impressions. Behold Garden Gnomes of Terror! It’s all sci-fi and horror – that’s just my thing. Come on by and say hello.
