Hello again and thanks for joining me. Today I’m so pleased to be with the lovely Susan-Alia Terry, author of the excellent Coming Darkness
I’m so pleased to be chatting to best selling author of The Seasiders – A.J Griffiths-Jones
What or who inspired you to start writing and why were they so influential?
I was initially inspired to write by music. I love well-crafted lyrics and during a period of searching and discovery, my love of music spurred me to learn to play an instrument. That didn’t work out, but I was still enamoured with the idea of creating with words. Later on that same year, I gave NaNoWriMo a try and was hooked!… (4th interview down)
“It’s Samhain season, the Pagan New Year, aka Dia de los Muertos, so we’ll have a Reading of the Names with topical music, Died on the Vine, by the late C.W. Konrad; scroll down for lyrics. The show features conversations with three of our favorite authors, Elizabeth West (Love Is the Way), Susan-Alia Terry (Coming Darkness), and Benjamin the Donkey (Limericks of Doom II), about their recent experience with DIY publishing. Also included is Drawing Joy, a Sunset Windows practice by Elizabeth West, a reading of the 19th-century poem The Blind Men and the Elephant along with a parody of same by Benjamin the Donkey, and lots more of Benji’s topical limericks. Sequitur theme music is by Zympht. Run time: 72 minutes.”

I Wanted To Challenge Them
Coming Darkness is a genre-crossing novel with elements of a fantasy, romance, and a sprinkling of religious fiction as well. Did you start writing with this in mind, or did this happen organically as you were writing?
Both. I knew Kai and Lucifer were in a relationship and so I had to build the religious and fantasy aspects into the world around them. It was an interesting challenge to create a world where they would not only interact, but fall in love as well….
Susan-Alia Terry – Writing About the Devil we Don’t Know
Susan-Alia Terry’s writing is compelled by the desire to entertain herself and her readers. In her paranormal fantasy, Coming Darkness, Terry writes an unusual story in which Lucifer is not entirely the bad guy, but a character that could love and be loved. As our Author of the Day, Terry tells us all about the inspiration behind this book, how she created her characters and her life as a writer.
